Abstract:
PURPOSE:To correct automatically measured errors caused by temperature change in a float type liquid level measuring device. CONSTITUTION:A float type liquid level measuring device winds a tape 11 connected to a float 10 found a drum, and uses an output from a potentiometer to detect rotation of the drum and a relational expression with diameter D of the drum and thickness of the tape 11 using as the constant so as to measure liquid level in a tank. At least two marks are formed in the tape in the lengthwise direction so as to coincide with prescribed liquid level points, and these marks are detected by means of an improper part detector 21. When signals are outputted from the detector 21 in a constant time, operation is carried out on the diameter of the drum and the thickness of the tape 11 according to these outputs of the improper part detector 21, and the outputs from the potentiometer hereafter are converted into the liquid levels or liquid volumes according to these values. Thereby, the accurate liquid levels or the liquid volumes can be measured regardless of changes in the diameter of the drum and the thickness of the tape 11 caused by temperature change and/or the like.
