Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing device high in accuracy, which can prevent a rotating shaft at the time of high speed rotation from being adversely affected by thermal expansion while its high stiffness is being kept on.
SOLUTION: In this fluid bearing device, a bearing metal 11 is closely fitted in the inner hole 7 of a circular cylinder for a bearing housing 10, the bearing surface 9 in the inner surface of the bearing metal 11 is partitioned by an axial land 15 in the circumferential direction at equal angular intervals, and each static pressure pocket 14 is formed in the aforesaid bearing surface 9, both the ends of which are partitioned by lands 17 and 17' in the circumferential direction while being formed into a rectangular shape in such a way as to be located at equal angular intervals, and a ring shaped thermal expansion allowable gap 16 permitting the bearing metal 11 to be thermally expanded outward, is formed at the intermediate part of the outer circumference of the bearing metal 11. A rotating shaft 13 is supported in the bearing surface 9 of the inner surface of the bearing metal 11 while an appropriate clearance is being maintained.
