To provide a technology useful for making design of industrial products by displaying a letter and number, figure, pattern or identification symbols such as a corporate name, serial number or the like, by changing the color of the surface of a white fluoride thermal sprayed film which is originally white, without impairing excellent corrosion resistance possessed by the fluoride thermal sprayed film.
A fluoride thermal sprayed film coating member comprises a substrate and a fluoride white thermal sprayed film of group IIIa elements of the periodic table, formed directly or through an under coat on the surface thereof. The fluoride thermal sprayed film coating member has a black layer providing a black densified layer, obtained by high-energy irradiation on the surface of the fluoride white thermal sprayed film. The black densified layer expressed as a letter, figure or other identification symbol is formed on the surface of the film.
