Abstract:

To provide a fluorinated naphthacene derivative, e.g. dodecafluoronaphthacene of a new compound, and an intermediate thereof; and to provide a method for producing the fluorinated naphthacene derivative and the intermediate thereof.

The production method comprises introducing an oxo group, a hydroxy group or an alkoxy group to a naphthacene skeleton, fluorinating the product with sulfur tetrafluoride, and partially defluorinating the fluorinated product by using a reducing agent to provide the naphthacene derivative having the naphthacene skeleton of which the desired positions are fluorinated.
