PURPOSE: To produce a new compd. excellent in stability, treatability and environmental preservation and useful for photopolymerization initiators or the like.

CONSTITUTION: The compd. of the formula I or II [R1 is cyclo-pentadienyl, indenyl or the like; Q is the formula III (R3 to R5 are H, Cl, Br, I, 1-4C alkoxy or the like) or the like; Y is Cl, Br, I, CN, SNC or the like (n) is 1 or 2; (m) is 0 or 1; m+n=2; X is -O-, -S-, methylene or the like; and A is 1-12C alkylene or a direct bond] such as bis [cyclopentadienyl]bis-[6-chloro-2,4-di(3-methylbut-1- oxy)pyrimidinyl]titanium. Furthermore, the compd. of the formula I is obtd., e.g. by bringing titanocene dihalide of the formula IV to react with the compd. of the formula V (T is H or Br) in the presence of a strong base such as butyl lithium.
