Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the effect of removing impurities from a casting and the effect of preventing the defect thereof by incorporating a specific ratio of Na2O, B2O3, F and SiO2 therein.

CONSTITUTION: A flux for pouring consists, by weight, of 6W20% Na2O, 4W19% B2O3 or, in addition thereto, ≤15% F and the balance SiO2. The flux is used in the stage of pouring a molten spheroidal graphite cast iron and is highly effective in removing impurities from the casting and preventing the defect thereof.
