PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flying thickness changing apparatus for continuous rolling mills with which the volume flow rate is kept constant and stable rolling is made possible even when deviation occurs between a target value and an actual value in thickness due to disturbance or the like from the start of thickness change till the end.
SOLUTION: This flying thickness changing device for the continuous rolling mills is provided with a level 2 process computer 4 for outputting the target thickness, the required time of flying change and the target rolling load at the point of time when the starting point of thickness change of a rolled stock 3 reaches each rolling mill and a flying thickness change controlling device 51 which outputs command values while bringing the actual thickness on the outlet side and the actual rolling load to the rolled stock close to the target thickness and the target rolling load. Further, automatic gage controllers 52 for controlling a roll gap, also adjusting the thickness on the outlet side and the actual thickness and the roll gap during adjusting the thickness on the outlet side and a dynamic speed controller 53 for dynamically changing the roll speed on the upstream side or the downstream side of a rolling mill 1 which the starting point of the thickness change reaches on the basis of the actual thickness or the roll gap are provided.
