To provide a focal plane shutter that allows shooting using an optical finder or using a monitor.
When a hold member 27 rotates on a shaft counterclockwise in the set operation, pressing parts 29a and 29b of a pressing member 29 which is fitted on an end of the hold member 27 rotate a lock-releasing member 23 for a front blade and a lock-releasing member 25 for a rear blade, while an engagement pin 27b rotates a restraining member 31 clockwise so that a restraining part 31a of the restraining member 31 moves into the trajectory of the movement of a restrained part 25b of the lock-releasing member 25 for the rear blade. When the coils 19a and 19b of the electromagnets 19 and 20are not supplied with electricity and the hold member 27 rotates clockwise, the lock-releasing member 23 for the front blade presses a front blade locking member 16 to allow an open operation of the front blade, while the lock-releasing member 25 for the rear blade cannot press a rear blade locking member 16 because the lock-releasing member 25 for the rear blade is restrained by the restraining member 31. As a result, an exposure aperture is fully opened, and observation is enabled with electronic finder.
