When the position PO1 of an exit pupil is changed to a photographic lens side by ΔPO by a focusing operation, the incident position on an imaging surface 5a of a principal ray 40, having a principal ray angle γ, is moved in the radial direction and receding from an optical axis J by Δx1. When focusing operation is performed, the position of an AF area where the principal ray 40 is caught is moved in the radial direction by Δx1. As a result, the aimed subject is prevented from coming off from the AF area, and also a high-luminance subject is prevented from entering from the outside of the area, so that the occurrence of the false focusing is avoided.
