Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foil bearing capable of preventing damage of foil by reducing contact opportunity of the foil and a shaft.SOLUTION: In a foil bearing 10 including a foil holder 11 having a plurality of axial grooves 14 on an inner peripheral face 11a, and a plurality of foils 12 including bearing surfaces X having circumferential edge portions 12a6 extended in the circumferential direction, and insertion portions 12a2 projecting to one side in the circumferential direction with respect to the bearing surface X and inserted to the axial grooves 14 of the foil holder 11, and relatively rotatably supporting a shaft 6 by a fluid film formed between the bearing surface X and the shaft 6, retraction portions 12a5 are disposed on end portions at one side in the circumferential direction, of the bearing surface X of the foils 12, and the retraction portions 12a5 form clearances H with circumferential extension lines L of the circumferential edge portions 12a6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
