To make such a stairway as being large in mass easily conveyable without entailing any damage to a handrail surface by constituting a conveyor system with a winch on a beam body astride both symmetrical handrails supported on wheels provided with wide width.
In order to carry in a stair 2 from a platform of an escalator, a beam body 6 attached with both symmetrical handrails 4, two wheels 5 being wide in contact width, a hand winch 12, two rope guide rollers 7, two lifting ropes 9 and two wheel-off preventing guides 10, is mounted on the wheels 5 and the rollers 11 so as to make them come into contact with this beam body from top and side. Then, in the stair 2, each demarcation part at both sides is removed away so as to make it liftable, and each lifting bracket 17 locked by a thumbscrew in use of the tapped hole is hooked on a tip hook at the other end of the rope 9. In succession, an operating handle 15 of the hand winch 12 is rotated, whereby two ropes 9a and 9b are wound in a winding drum, lifting the stair 2. In addition, it is carried up to the required position, the operating handle 24 is put back in reverse procedures, and thus the stair 2 is hung down.
