To obtain through a small scaled improvement a device capable of conveying steel freely in the forward or backward direction with a conveying device of transfer-type and capable of flexibly coping with change of the conveying direction by overturning or raising two nails used either for forward or backward conyeyance against a steel conveying skid plane with shifting a rod located between the two nails.
A conveying rope 4 is connected to both ends of a drawing-car 3, and by pulling in either of the forward or backward direction the car is shifted in a direction parallel to the conveying skid 1. With a steel 2 loaded on the upper plane of the conveying skid 1, by raising either of the nails 6, 7 for forward or backward conveying against the conveying plane of the cvonveying skid 1, the steel 2 is hooked and conveyed in each of the directions. For example, a lever 11 for forward conveying is operated by a cylinder and is brought into contact with a rod pin 9 to work a rod 8 making the nail 6 into a raised state. Against the force to raise the nail 7 through the rod 8 by the force generated by corrision of a steel 2 with the nail 6 at the time of forward conveying, the rod 8 is sustained by a spring 5, and the rod 8 together with each of the nails are made unmovable.
