To obtain a metallic wire homogeneous and most suitable for precision working so as to suppress dispersion of free length when formed for a spring or so by limiting an amount of twist of metallic wire between the front and rear of a die at the time of wire drawing to a prescribed value or lower.
When a metallic wire is drawn by a die, an amount of twist of the metallic wire is ≤20°/100 mm between the front and rear of the die. When continuous wire drawing is executed with a plurality of dies, the amount of twist of the metallic wire between the front and rear of the last stage die is ≤20°/100 mm. When continuous wire drawing is executed with n pieces of dies, and the amount of twist per 100 mm between the front and rear of each of the dies are θ1, θ2...θn respectively, Σθn is ≤130°. As to the metallic wire, carbon steel wire is cited, and above all spring steel wire is the suitable. In order to decrease the amount of twist-when the wire is made to pass through a die, the directional condition is adjusted to get rid of generation of twist: the uneven wear of dancer roller used when the metallic wire is transferred from a coil drum to anothetr coil drum is made to decrease: and eccentricity of the coil drum is removed: such and such are cited.
