Title:
FOURTH ADHESIVE PROTEIN GENE OF BARNACLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10327867
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject new gene, comprising a gene capable of coding the fourth adhesive protein having a specific amino acid sequence and useful for production, etc., of a protein useful as an adhesive having a high adhesive strength under wet conditions or in water, a substrate, etc., for cell culture.

This new gene is capable of coding the fourth adhesive protein of a barnacle, composed of an amino acid sequence described in the formula or an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence described in the formula and having the adhesion and is useful for the production, etc., of a protein used as a raw material for an adhesive having an effective strength under wet conditions or in water or a substrate for cell culture. The gene is obtained by isolating a polyA-RNA from Megabalanus rosa according to a conventional method, preparing a cDNA library using the resultant polyA-RNA and screening the cDNA library with an oligonucleotide synthesized from the amino acid sequence of the fourth adhesive protein.
