Abstract:
To suppress the effect of the cavitation occurring in a balance hole formed in a runner on a runner blade.
In this Francis type runner, a plurality of vanes extending in a generally radial direction are arranged between a crown 3 and a band. The balance hole 5 passing through the crown 3 is formed so that the axial thrust caused by the unbalance between the pressure by the pressure in a rear pressure chamber pushing the crown 3 and the force by the pressure in a side pressure chamber pushing the band. The opening portion of the balance hole 5 on the vane 2 side is positioned on the inner extension to the rotating center of the camber line 20 of the vane 2.
