The free cooling chiller is equipped with a coolant tank 2 which includes first and second coolant areas Za and Zb formed by providing an area block plate 6 inside and communicates the first and second coolant areas Za and Zb via a communicating space Ss provided at least at the lower part, a first cooling system M1 which returns a coolant L from the first coolant area Za to the second coolant area Zb by circulating it through a first pump 7, a chiller 3, and a predetermined cooled part 70, a second cooling system M2 which returns the coolant L from the second coolant area Zb to the first coolant area Za by circulating it through a second pump 8 and an outer air heat exchanger 5, and a control system Mc which exerts control for cooling the coolant L using the first cooling system M1 and the second cooling system M2.
