This device comprises a free roll 3 for conveying running films; radial bearings 5 having radial side porous bodies 5 rotatably supported on the outer peripheral faces of both ends of the free roll 3 via radial clearances 17; radial side air supplying portions 23 for supplying air to the radial side porous bodies 15 of the radial bearings 5; machined holes 31 arranged on the radial side porous bodies 15 to take in air passing through the radial side porous bodies 15; thrust bearings 7 having thrust bearing faces 29 on the both end faces of the free roll 3 via the end faces 15A of the radial side porous bodies 15 communicated with the machined holes 31 and thrust clearances 27; and exhaust ports 35 for exhausting air supplied from the machined holes 31 to the thrust bearing faces 29 of the thrust bearings 7.
