PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable writing utensil capable of ensuring an operation area of an operation part sufficiently even with a thinner barrel.SOLUTION: A rotor 8, a part of an operation part 6, and a connection part 7 are provided inside a barrel 2. The part of the operation part 6 is exposed from the barrel 2. An exposed portion has a press wall part 52. The rotor 8 is rotated by pressing the press wall part 52 of the operation part 6. A pen point 10 is retractable from a tip of the barrel 2 to the outside. An entire portion forward of the press wall part 52 of the operation part 6 can be inserted from a rear end part side of the barrel 2. The barrel 2 has a barrel side engaging part 31, which can engage with a connection part 7 and/or the rotor 8, on the inner peripheral surface. The barrel side engaging part 31 can lock detachment of the operation part 6 from the barrel 2 by engaging with the connection part 7 and/or the rotor 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
