To provide a freshness holding paper for vegetables and so forth having easily macerating property, moisturizing property, waterproofness and decomposition gas sucking property in such a manner that an easily macerating, moisturizing and waterproof paper equipped with moisturizing property, waterproofness, heat-resistance and macerating property enabling used papers to be recovered is made to additionally have the function of holding freshness by sucking decomposition gases such as an ethylene gas or an ammonia gas emitted from vegetables.

For this freshness holding paper, a mixture for which the powder of charcoal is mixed and kneaded with a styrene-acrylic copolymerization binder coats the housing article surface side of an easily macerating, moisturizing and waterproof paper. In this case, the styrene-acrylic copolymerization binder is obtained by the hydrosol method, and by the adjustment of the glass transition temperature in a range of 65 to 75°C. The easily macerating, moisturizing and waterproof paper is formed by being dried at a temperature of the minimum film forming temperature (MFT) or higher.
