Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material suitable as a low μ friction material and used for a hydrid brake material.
SOLUTION: This friction material has a friction coefficient of ≤0.4 and a compression elastic modulus of 5-30 kgf/mm2. The friction material can be produced from a composition comprising 30-50 vol.% of a base material such as aramide fibers or carbon fibers, 10-15 vol.% of a binder, 15-40 vol.% of an organic filler, 2-10 vol.% of an inorganic filler, and 12-20 vol.% of a solid lubricant. The composition allows to enhance the porosity of the friction material and lower the compression elastic modulus of the friction material.
