Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method improving airtightness or liquid tightness of a welding part.SOLUTION: A friction stir welding method includes: a process of butting the first and second members 10 and 20, and butting the side face of a third member to extend face from the side face of the first member 10 located at one side in a tool movement direction to that of the second member 20; an offset process of treating a portion offset to the side of the member 10 or 20 by the thickness dimension or more of an area which is a periphery of the area agitated by a tool from the butting face of the first and second members 10 and 20 and is in a plastic-flowing layered form, and by the width dimension or less of the agitated area; and a welding process of treating the butting face. In the offset process, the tool is rotated in such a rotation direction that the position facing an offset direction among the tool side peripheral parts faces a third member side, and in the welding process, the tool is rotated in a direction reverse to that in the offset process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
