Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of warp or the like to cause flow resistance in a mobile structure such as a railway, aircraft and rocket or degradation of the strength in a pressure vessel and a wide panel when a work is formed into a target product in a curved surface or a flat surface by friction stir welding by using a bobbin tool.
SOLUTION: In a friction stir welding apparatus for heating, stirring and welding a joining surface of a base material, difference in the generated frictional heat amount is generated between a face side and a back side by making shoulder surface shape of a face side shoulder differ from that of a back side shoulder. As a result, the plastic fluidity of a member on the face side and the back side of the base material is out of balance to generate uneven distribution of the contractive force inside the member. By generating the uneven distribution of the contractive force in the direction of correcting the initial warp of the member, the occurrence of the warp or the like of the structure can be suppressed by performing friction stir welding while correcting the warp and the distortion of the member which are originally present in the base material.
