Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a rocket tank cylinder by which manufacturing equipment is simplified by restraining a member to be joined by a simple means during the FSW, and to provide an apparatus therefor.
SOLUTION: An FSW apparatus 10 having a rotary tool 12 to join cylinder skins 1 is fitted to a movable support 118. The movable support 118 is fitted via rails 111 provided on respective support beam 112, and moved on the support beams 112. Thus, the rotary tool 12 joins butted portion of the cylinder skins 1 with each other in a stirring manner. A holding roller 40 fitted to the movable support 118 is disposed forward of the advancing direction (the joining direction) of the FSW apparatus, and holds the cylinder skins 1 to prevent the cylinder skins 1 from floating during the FSW. A Y-direction restraint tool 30 is fitted to the support beams 112 to suppress opening of the butted portions of the cylinder skins 1 during the FSW.
