To provide a front bodywork of an automobile structured so that an exterior trim member and a front bumper are secured with an appropriate fixing force, capable of suppressing breakage of the exterior trim member etc. in the event of collision to a minor degree.
A lower bracket 17 is formed from two parts in consolidation by means of welding, i.e. a bracket body 61 as a shaping item produced through press working from a steel plate and having a Z-section approximately and a pinching part 62 alike as a shaping item produced through press working from a steel plate, having approximately a U-section. The pinching part 62 is furnished with a first pinching piece 62a joined with the upper wall 61a of the bracket body 61 and a second pinching piece 62b to hold pinchedly a rib 22a on an inner panel 22 in cooperation with the first pinching piece 62a. The pinching part 62 of the lower bracket 17 is furnished with a left and a right pinch force giving mechanism 68 each consisting of a stepped bolt 65, a coil spring 66, and a nut 67, and by these pinch force giving mechanisms 68, a comparatively large resiliently pinching force to hold pinchedly the rib 22a of a front garnish 8 is given to the pinching part 62.
