Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of uneven brightness and enhance display quality.
SOLUTION: This front light 1 has a point light source 2; a square pillar- shaped light guide body 3 emitting light incoming from the point light source 2 as strip-shaped light; and a flat plate-shaped light guide plate 7 made from a light transmitting material, making light from the light guide body 3 incident from one end surface side, irradiating face-like illumination light against a liquid crystal panel 22, and transmitting forward reflecting light from the liquid crystal panel 22. The point light source 2 is arranged on end 3a side where an angle nearest to the central part of the light guide body 3 among angles formed by end surfaces and the extending direction of a stripe, of both ends 3a, 3b of the light guide body 3, is an obtuse angle.
