To provide a fuel cell system that makes a user of a vehicle feel less uncomfortable with drive noise even when a cooling water pump is driven during halting of the vehicle.
The fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell; a high-current battery that stores high-current electricity generated by the fuel cell; a voltage converter that converts high-current electricity into low-current electricity; a low-current battery that stores low-current electricity as converted by the voltage converter; a cooling water pump that is provided in a cooling water circulation passage where cooling water for cooling the fuel cell flows and that is driven by low-current electricity converted by the voltage converter or low-current electricity stored in the low-current battery so as to supply cooling water to the fuel cell; a conductivity reducer that is provided in the cooling water circulation passage and that removes ions from the cooling water so as to reduce the conductivity of the cooling water; and a pump control section (step S4) that drives the cooling water pump when a request is made to recharge the low-current battery after determination is made that an instruction to stop the fuel cell system is issued by a user.
