Abstract:
To provide a fuel electrode for a fuel cell and a fuel cell equipped with it capable of carrying out water electrolysis while restraining degradation of an anode catalyst layer.
The fuel cell is provided with an anode catalyst layer 23 for promoting protonation of hydrogen, a gas diffusion layer 21 for supplying fuel gas to the anode catalyst layer, a first water electrolysis catalyst layer 22a fitted between the anode catalyst layer and the gas diffusion layer and containing water electrolysis catalyst, and a second water electrolysis catalyst layer 22b fitted to the anode catalyst layer at an opposite side of the first water electrolysis catalyst layer and containing the water electrolysis catalyst layer.
