To provide a fuel filter which minimizes a risk of using an improper filter, and minimizes fuel leakage in replacing filters and inclusion of air to a fuel system.

This is a filter assembly provided with a filter element and a filter head. The filter element is provided with an action projection supported in the housing and extending in a longitudinal direction, and a tap plate on a first end of the housing. The filter head is provided with a nipple housing a valve element engaging with the action projection of the filter element. The tap plate contains a tap plate opening attached to the nipple with a screw line, the tap plate opening being arranged at the center of the diameter with the action projection. An annular elastic seal is provided between the tap plate opening and the nipple.
