PURPOSE: To eliminate air-fuel ratios between cylinders together with fluctuation of delivery inner pressure by constantly setting fuel injection timings of cylinders of independent injection means.
CONSTITUTION: An engine speed Ne is calculated based on signals from an engine speed sensor 9. Next, an intake pipe pressure PM is calculated based on signals from an intake pressure sensor. An ECU 13 determines whether the present operation condition is in a constant area or an intermittent area. In the intermittent area, fuel injection is executed intermittently correspondingly to intake timings of cylinders CYL 1 to CYL 8. The intermittent injection area corresponds to a high load operation area where a throttle is in a fully opened condition, a large rate of fuel is injected to the cylinders, and fuel injection timings are overlapped with each other. Fuel pressure inside a delivery pipe 21 is substantially constant with a slight variation, and air-fuel ratios in the cylinders are constant.
