Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent knocking from occurring in a speed timer which controls fuel injection timing by enlarging the opening area of a communication passage which communicates a high pressure chamber of the timer with its low pressure chamber for high engine speeds as compared with that for low engine speeds.

CONSTITUTION: The fuel injection timing of a fuel injection pump A corresponds to the reciprocating slide timing of a plunger 3 by way of a cam plate 15, and the cam plate 15 is reciprocated to the axial direction while being engaged with a roller 16 which is displaced to the circumferential direction by a speed timer mechanism 17. The speed timer mechanism 17 includes a cylinder 31, at both sides of which a high and a low pressure chamber E and F are formed by a timer piston 18, and both of the chambers E and F are communicated each other by a communication passage 51 equipped with an altitude correction device 41. In this case, the altitude correction device 41 is provided with a branch passage 51c which inducts fluid pressure, which is increased as engine speeds are increased, to the point surface of a plunger 44, so as to achieve the desired end.
