Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of a fuel injection valve using a piezoelectric element and a magnetostrictive element.
SOLUTION: A fuel injection valve is provided with a nozzle hole 1a opened/ closed by a needle valve 2 displaced in response to differential pressure between a fuel pressure chamber 3 and a differential pressure chamber 8, a return spring 4 energizing the needle valve 2 in a closing direction, and a piston 11 regulating the pressure of the differential pressure chamber 8 in response to expansion of a piezoelectric actuator. A controller 5 sending a valve opening signal and a valve closing signal selectively to the piezoelectric actuator 10 according to the operating state of an engine selects valve opening start voltage V1 for driving the piezoelectric actuator further in a valve opening direction from a valve opening maintained state at the beginning of valve opening while selecting valve opening maintaining voltage V2 that can maintain a valve opened state in the latter period of valve opening.
