In the method for maintaining its function by preventing the bearing 1 placed between the upper structure 6 and the lower structure 14 from being damaged by the unexpected earthquake motion in a bridge, when the unexpected earthquake occurs, a slip is apt to occur between a base plate 12 of the bearing 1 and the lower structure 14 by breaking a fixed member 13 for fixing the base plate 12 of the bearing 1 to the lower structure. Concretely, the fixed member 13 is formed of a bolt, and the bolt 13 is made to break along a joint surface between the base plate 12 and the lower structure 14.
