Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a billet heating furnace providing a billet with a temperature gradient in an axial direction by using inexpensive burners.
SOLUTION: In the billet heating furnace for intermittently conveying and heating a billet 1, a heating part 2b and a slant heating part 2a are provided in a direction for conveying the billet 1, and high-speed burners 4 for heating one end of a billet 1a are provided on both side walls of the slant heating part 2a. The billet 1 is heated during being conveyed through the heating part 2b and then conveyed to the slant heating part 2a where the one end of a billet 1a is heated locally by the burners 4. As a result, the billet 1a is provided with a thermal gradient in an axial direction.
