To suppress over heating of a counter by high temperature of exhaust gas by a method wherein the upper surface of a grate is lowered by causing it to approach the surface of a counter and a shield body is provided to shield a flow of exhaust gas, exhausted along the bottom of a pan placed on the grate, over the frame of the outer periphery of the grate.
A top plate 13 is dropped in an opening 4 formed in the upper surface of a counter 3, and a heat shield frame member 22c serving as a heat shield plate 22 is fitted in along the inner side of a side wall 13c of the top plate 13 in a manner that a radiant heat to a side wall 13c is cut off. This constitution forms a ventilation passage S between the heat shield frame member 22c and the inner periphery of the side wall 13c. A grate 30 is attached at the opening 4 with a frame 31 placed on a stepped part 25, but in this case, a shield body 47 is arranged at a frame 31, the shield body is higher than the frame 31, and is caused to approximately coincide with the upper surface height of a grate claw 32. This constitution shields a flow of high temperature gas, exhausted along the bottom of a pan placed on the grate 30, over a frame 31 of the outer peripheral part of the grate 30.
