PURPOSE: To obtain an igniter capable of forming a stable flame even when the flow rate of a dust-containing gas emerging from the hole for charging coal into a coke oven is suddenly changed.

CONSTITUTION: A charging car 6 is provided with a liquid fuel tank 31, a pump 34 for charging a liquid fuel into the liquid fuel tank, and a blower 40. Each chute 6c is provided with a burner for mixing a liquid fuel sent from the pump 34 with compressed air fed from the blower and for injecting the mixture and an ignition burner 50 composed of an igniter for the mixed gas. The feed pipe for the liquid fuel and the air feed pipe are provided with respective flow control valves 35 and 43, and the mixing ratio of the compressed liquid fuel fed to the ignition burner to the compressed fed to the ignition burner is controlled with a control panel 51. By using this igniter, the flame is not extinguished even when a sudden change in the flow rate of the dust-containing gas occurs. Therefore, gas explosion in the dust collection system can be prevented.
