Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the expansion of a crack or a clearance generated in a dowel part by fitting a shell casing on the outer circumference of the dowel part to which a gas introducing ring is fitted.
CONSTITUTION: The gas leakage of an upper fixed block for gas blowing which is used for a slide gate for a tundish in steel making is prevented. A refractory body 1 for the slide gate is provided with a slide gate hole 2. A gas introducing ring 4 is fitted to the inner side of a dowel part 3 which is concentric with the slide gate hole 2, and projected upwardly from the refractory body 1. A shell casting 11 is fitted to the outer circumference of the dowel part 3 with the highly air-tight mortar. The shell casing 12 is fitted to the upper end surface of the gas introducing ring 4 from the outer circumference of the dowel part 3. A crack or a clearance generated in the dowel part 3 can be prevented from being expanded thereby. The gas leakage from the outer circumference of the dowel part 3, and the gas leakage from the joint part between the dowel part 3 and the gas introducing ring 4 can be prevented.
