Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas separation membrane which separates acid gas such as carbon dioxide gas from combustion exhaust gas and has improved gas permeability and separation characteristics by forming the gas separation membrane from a specific amine modified polyimide in which a part or the whole of hydrogen atoms of an alkyl group are replaced with an amine compound residue.
SOLUTION: This gas separation membrane having high permeability and separation characteristics for acid gas is an aromatic polyimide having repeating unit represented by the formula as a basic skeleton and is formed from an amine modified polyimide in which a part or the whole of hydrogen atoms of alkyl groups in the formula are replaced with amine compound residues. In the formula, X is an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid compound residue and Y is an aromatic diamine compound residue having at least one alkyl group as substituent. Such gas separation membrane is manufactured by causing a bromination agent to react with a polyimic acid, as the precursor of the aromatic polyimide, to introduce bromine into a part of the alkyl group and a brominated polyamic acid obtained is imidated.
