PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate driver that can prevent a forced stop due to malfunction or its switching element from being destroyed in a high side gate driver IC controlling a high side switching element.
SOLUTION: The gate driver is configured such that when a circuit of a low side system transfers a high side input signal SH to a circuit of a high side system, the circuit of the low side system detects an edge of the high side input signal to generate an ON pulse Pon and an OFF pulse Poff and the circuit of the low side system transfers the signals to the circuit of the high side system, the pulses latch ON/OFF information of a high side switching element 6 so that a drive circuit 5 drives the high side switching element 6. The circuit of the low side system is provided with an edge detection circuit 9 that detects an edge of a low side input signal LS, provides its detection output to an OFF pulse generating circuit 3, and when a low side switching element 8 is conductive, the high side switching element 6 is forcibly turned off as its feature.
