Title:
GELLED DRUG FOR RECTAL INFUSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5625109
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled drug composition having stable effect of the drug component, reduced stimmulation and improved durability of the effect, by adding the drug component which can be absorbed through the rectum to a gelable base.

CONSTITUTION: A gelable base (e.g. tragacanth, gelatin, pectin, etc.) is mixed with a drug containing a component which can be absorbed through the rectum, (e.g. enema, antipyretic, analgesic, tonic, cold remedy, remedy for piles, etc.), together with water, disinfectant, preservative, and neutralizing agent, and gelled. Since the effective component of the drug releases slowly from the gelled drug, it does not cause a bellyache by the rapid and strong stimmulation to the intestines in contrast with the conventional enema. As the viscosity of the drug and the concentration of the effective component in the drug can be adjusted to the desired values, the drug can be easily applied to people irrespective of age or sex.
