Abstract:

PURPOSE: A solid base type rectal administration drug, containing a water-soluble protein, polyhydric alcohol, water and a chemical in a specific proportion, and capable of rapidly absorbing the contained chemical through the rectal mucosa.

CONSTITUTION: A rectal administration drug containing (A) 5W55wt%, particularly 10W50wt% water-soluble protein, preferably gelatin, solubilized collagen, casein or soybeam protein, (B) 10W40wt%, particularly 15W35wt% polyhydric alcohol, preferably having low volatility and plasticity, e.g. glycerol or sorbitol, (C) 25W65wt%, particularly 30W60wt% water and (D) 0.05W15wt%, particularly 0.1W10wt% chemical absorbable through mucosa. The drug is effective in the following cases; a chemical having low bioavailability by oral administration or much side effect, a chemical inevitably used by injection due to decomposition by digestive fluid, chemical susceptible to initial pass effect in the liver, etc. are used.
