Abstract:
To isolate and identify ACW7/VW331 gene participating in plant cell wall synthesis and cell form formation to provide the gene or its similar gene, and to utilize the genes to provide a transformed plant having modified cell wall components or cell form.
A means of positional cloning is used to identify and isolate a single gene causing ACW7/VW331 mutation giving abnormalities to the plant cell wall synthesis and cell elongation in a wide chromosomal region. Since the isolated ACW7/VW331 gene gives influences to the plant cell wall synthesis and cell elongation, the ACW7/VW331 gene and its similar gene can be utilized to modify the cell wall components and cell form of the plant.
