Title:
GENERATOR FOR OPTICAL MILLIMETER WAVE OR SUB-MILLIMETER WAVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3803748
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator used for an optical millimeter wave or sub- millimeter wave and capable of transmitting a signal exceeding a band used in an amplifier, an optical modulator, or a band light strength detector, or a phase difference detector.
SOLUTION: The generator is provided with a means for mixing a first coherent light (frequency ν1) with a second coherent light (frequency ν2) to generate a first electromagnetic wave having the resulting difference frequency (ν1-ν2 or ν2-ν1). In addition, the generator is provided with a means for mixing the first coherent light, the second coherent light, with a third coherent light (frequency ν3); a means for generating a second electromagnetic wave by mixing the first coherent light with the third coherent light; a means for comparing the second electromagnetic wave with a previously determined first high-frequency signal; and a means for adjusting the wavelength of the first coherent light by referring to information obtained by the comparison.
