To form a gesture detection region at an appropriate position.SOLUTION: A gesture detection device 2 includes: an infrared camera 3 for photographing an occupant P of a vehicle 1; an infrared irradiation device 4 for forming a region A2 for detecting a hand gesture by the occupant P by irradiation with infrared rays; a physique detection part 33 for detecting a physique of the occupant P using a photographic image I by the infrared camera 3; an irradiation direction setting part 34 for setting an infrared irradiation direction D1 to a direction according to the physique, and thereby setting a formation position P1 of the region A2 to a position according to the physique; and a gesture detection part 32 for detecting the hand gesture in the region A2 using the photographic image I by the infrared camera 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
