To provide a glass material forming no reaction layer (an α-alumina coarse crystal grain layer in which sodium is condensed in the grain boundary) having low sodium corrosion resistance on a solid electrolyte tube side as glass solder for joining a β-alumina solid electrolyte tube for constituting a high temperature secondary battery with a ceramic insulation ring.
A glass material is used to join a β-alumina solid electrolyte tube which stores sodium of a negative active material 7 on the inside and sulfur of a positive active material 6 in the periphery and an insulation ring 2 interposed between a positive container 5 projecting in the flange shape from the upper part of the solid electrolyte tube 3 and housing the positive active material 6 and a negative container 4 covering the upper part of the solid electrolyte tube 3. The glass material consists of 15-30wt.% SiO2, 20-45wt.% B2O3, 15-30wt.% Al2O3, 10-30wt.% RO, (R is an alkali earth metal), and 0-10wt.% Na2O.
