PURPOSE: To enable the supply of necessary and sufficient electric power corresponding to temperature of an engine, by providing a switching type voltage dropper circuit, which regulates a value of the electric power fed to glow plugs in connection with the temperature of the engine, between the glow plug and a battery.
CONSTITUTION: When a Diesel engine is operated, if a main switch 1A and a preheating switch 3 are closed, power supply voltage of a level larger than the rated voltage is directly applied to each glow plug 2 from a battery 1, causing a temperature of the glow plug 2 to rapidly increase. The preheating switch 3 is opened and closed by an automatic interrupter device 3A, in this way, the temperature of the glow plug is maintained to the upper limit value (about 950°C), during which the engine is started. After the engine is started, the preheating switch 3 is opened, and then the voltage applied to the glow plug 2 is controlled by a voltage dropper circuit 4 equipping a regulating circuit 7. That is, in connection with the on-off operation of an engine temperature switch 19, output voltage Vo of the voltage dropper circuit 4 is lowered in two stages.
