Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device capable of improving durability of a lead groove by smoothly and properly shifting a cam carrier by optimizing the shape of the lead groove for shifting the cam carrier between accelerating rotation and decelerating rotation of the cam carrier.SOLUTION: In a variable valve device including a cam carrier (43) which is a cylindrical member axially slidably fitted to an outer periphery of a cam shaft (42) while prohibited in relative rotation, provided with a plurality of cam lobes (43A, 43B) of different cam profiles, formed on an outer peripheral face in a state of being axially adjacent to each other, and further provided with lead grooves (44) engaged with switching pins (73, 74), an acceleration-side lead groove (44l) for switching from a low speed-side cam lobe (43A) to a high speed-side cam lobe (43B), and a deceleration-side lead groove (44r) for switching from the high speed-side cam lobe (43B) to the low speed-side cam lobe (43A) have the groove shapes different from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 19
