Abstract:

To provide a two-dimensional gray component replacement method, based on a highlight likelihood and color neutrality, with which an artifact can be avoided.

The method of gray component replacement includes: receiving a current pixel color value (32); determining a highlight likelihood for the current pixel color value (34); determining color neutrality for the current pixel color value (36); and generating an output pixel color value depending upon the highlight likelihood and the color neutrality (38).
