To provide a grinding device for end part of a ferrule which easily and highly accurately grinds an end part of the ferrule into different shapes without attaching and detaching or exchanging more than one kinds of grinding wheels or without setting a grinding device mounted with more than one kinds of grinding wheels.
The ferrule W is gripped by a grip mechanism 21. A grinding wheel 28 is rotated around one axis line by a motor 29 for rotating the grinding wheel. A facing angle of the ferrule W against a grinding surface of the grinding wheel 28 is set by a setting mechanism 30. According to need, the ferrule W is oscillated by an oscillating mechanism 30 to continuously change the facing angle of the ferrule W to the grinding surface of the grinding wheel 28, and also relatively reciprocated in the radial direction of the rotary grinding wheel 28 by a reciprocating mechanism 33. Thereby, the end of the ferrule W is ground into different shapes such as taper and hemisphere shapes.
