PURPOSE: To change a work tool without replacing a moving part by fitting to a grindstone shaft the moving part for moving plural kinds of grinding parts relatively, in the grinding and polishing device of the lens to be worked.

CONSTITUTION: When a work 11 or grindstone shaft 15 is moved in the axial direction, the work 11 is ground via grinding parts 13, 14 in this device. At this grinding start time, the grinding part 13 grinds the work 11 mainly. After completion of the grinding of the work 11 by the grinding parts 13, 14, the grinding part 13 is moved in the axial direction by Δl via a control part 17 and moving means 16. By this control the grinding part can be changed to the grinding part 14 for finishing. The finishing is executed by this grinding part 14 for finishing. Consequently, the work of plural stages becomes possible without changing a work device or grindstone.
