This groove machining device is provided with a disc-like grinding wheel 31 provided with a chevron-shaped grinding part 31a being a cutting edge and having a chevron-shaped cross section to apply groove machining to a roller R to be machined, a grinding wheel rotating mechanism 32 for rotating the grinding wheel 31, a machining object rotating mechanism 8 for holding the roller R to be machined and rotating the roller R at peripheral speed being different from that of the grinding wheel 31 when machining the groove, a truing grinding wheel 41 composed of a pair of correction grinding wheels 36, 37 rotating and coming into contact with the grinding wheel 31 during groove machining and coming into contact with each inclined peripheral face of the chevron-shaped grinding part 31a by sliding at the same time to apply truing operation to the grinding wheel 31, and a truing operation mechanism 42 for holding the truing grinding wheel 41 to let the truing grinding wheel 41 true.
